I'm not good at anatomy — is this too advanced for me?
EQ50 was designed for candidates with little or no previous anatomy experience. It begins with the fundamentals and builds progressively, using illustrations, videos, exercises and the manual to make complex concepts approachable. You don't need a science degree — just a willingness to learn.
Can I really learn equine anatomy online?
Yes. EQ50 combines professionally narrated lessons, detailed illustrations, palpation videos, quizzes, learning exercises and a comprehensive 219-page manual. Anatomy and terminology are exceptionally well suited to self-paced online study — many candidates are surprised by how deep the course goes and how prepared they feel for hands-on education afterward.
Do I need access to a horse?
No. You can complete the course without owning or having regular access to a horse. Candidates who do have access often enjoy applying observational concepts as they learn.
How long do I have, and how much time will it take?
You have one year to complete the course, plus an additional month for the final examination. EQ50 is assigned approximately 100 hours, though your actual time depends on your existing knowledge and pace — some candidates finish much faster.
Is it worth the investment?
You receive far more than a series of videos: a structured curriculum, a professionally illustrated 219-page manual, palpation videos, quizzes, exercises, instructor support and a Certificate of Completion — plus a foundation that supports all of your future equine education.
What happens if I don't pass the final exam?
The passing score is 70%. Candidates receive three attempts and must wait at least two weeks between attempts. The quizzes and exercises throughout the course are designed to prepare you well before you reach the exam.
Can I study on mobile or tablet?
Yes. The course works on desktop, tablet and mobile, and you can pause and return as often as you need throughout your access period.
Is EQ50 required before EQ100?
EQ50 is the required anatomy distance-study course in the EEBW certification pathway, waived only for veterinarians with equine practices. Candidates may attend EQ100 before finishing EQ50, but the EQ50 final exam must be completed before the EEBW certificate is released.
